ALABAMA — A woman has died after being shot multiple times inside a home on Wesley Avenue Thursday morning, according to the Mobile Police Department.
Officers responded to a shooting call around 9 a.m. in the 900 block of Wesley Avenue. When they arrived, they found a woman inside a home, believed to be owned by her, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
She was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died, police said in an update.
According to a department news release, the woman and the shooter knew each other, though investigators have not yet confirmed the nature of their relationship. Authorities believe an altercation occurred inside the home before the shooting.
One man at the scene has been detained without incident and is being questioned by investigators. Police have not announced any charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
