
FLORIDA — Police are investigating the death of a 61-year-old woman who may have been killed in a dog attack, according to the Alachua Police Department.
Officers said the woman was found dead last Thursday outside a home on Northwest County Road 235. Her body was discovered inside a fenced area with two dogs.
Authorities said the woman had been visiting the home, which belongs to family members, to babysit a young child. Family members told police they returned home to find the woman deceased, while the child was found outside in the yard unharmed.
Alachua County Animal Resources responded to the scene and took custody of the dogs involved.
Police said the official cause of death has not yet been determined and will be confirmed by the medical examiner’s office.
The woman’s identity has not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
