One person dead following officer-involved shooting in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA — A fatal officer-involved shooting is under investigation in Barr Township, Cambria County, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Authorities said members of the State Police Troop A Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation into the incident, which occurred Tuesday night.

Troopers said that around 7:30 p.m., officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a man at a home along Springer Road. Officials said a perimeter had already been established when the man emerged from the woods and fired a handgun toward responding officers.

Police said troopers returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect.

Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Cambria County District Attorney’s Office responded to assist with the investigation.

Officials said the suspect’s name will be released after next-of-kin have been notified.

In accordance with state police policy, the troopers involved have been placed on administrative duty.

The investigation remains ongoing.
