One person dead following multi-vehicle crash on I-95 in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Cumberland County left one person dead and several others injured early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The crash happened near mile marker 62 on the northbound side of I-95 and involved five vehicles, including a pickup truck, two SUVs, an Amazon delivery truck and a fully loaded charter bus.

Highway patrol officials confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Several others were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. The conditions of those injured have not been released.

All northbound lanes of I-95 were closed for several hours as crews responded to the crash and cleared the scene. Authorities have not yet released additional details about what led to the collision.
