
TENNESSEE — A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 40 left at least one person dead early Tuesday morning, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The crash happened shortly before 5:45 a.m. near mile marker 277, not far from the Baxter exit.
Troopers say the wreck involved two commercial trucks, an empty tour bus, and a passenger car. Several people were taken to a hospital with injuries, though their conditions have not been released.
As of 9 a.m., all westbound lanes of I-40 remained closed while investigators worked the scene and cleared debris. Additional details, including the identity of the deceased, have not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
