VIRGINIA — The Virginia State Police is investigating a motorcycle crash that left one person dead in Amherst County on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
Troopers were called Sunday afternoon to Elon Road for a report of a motorcycle crash. According to investigators, the rider, identified as 30-year-old Dakota B. Fitzgerald of Madison Heights, was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Police said Fitzgerald was traveling west on Elon Road, about a quarter mile east of Cloudcroft Drive, when he lost control while attempting to pass another vehicle.
Fitzgerald died at the scene, according to state police. The crash remains under investigation.
