One person dead following motorcycle crash in Virginia

VIRGINIA — A 68-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash Monday afternoon on the Blue Ridge Parkway, according to the National Park Service (NPS).

The crash occurred around 4:17 p.m. near milepost 16 in Nelson County.

Emergency crews from the NPS, Wintergreen Fire and EMS, and Wintergreen Police responded to the scene and found the rider, identified as Timothy Carl Brown of Trussville, Alabama.

Preliminary reports indicate Brown was traveling southbound when he left the road shoulder, re-entered the roadway, then lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to flip and come to a stop.

Brown was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
