SOUTH CAROLINA — A 30-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash late Saturday night at the intersection of John B. White Sr. Boulevard and Ammons Road, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities say the crash occurred around 11 p.m. on the eastbound side of the roadway.
The victim, identified as Fernando Ortiz of Spartanburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said Ortiz lost control of his motorcycle while navigating a curve and struck a power pole. Police confirmed that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The incident is being investigated by the Spartanburg Police Department and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
