SOUTH CAROLINA — A 31-year-old man was killed earlier this week in a motorcycle crash near Shaw Air Force Base, according to the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.

Officials identified the victim as Robert Clark.

The crash occurred on the Broad Street extension when Clark, who was operating a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound, collided with a 2020 Ford SUV that was crossing traffic from Loring Mill Road, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Two of the four occupants in the SUV were transported to a hospital with injuries. Their conditions have not been released.

An autopsy for Clark is scheduled for next week. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the crash.
