One person dead following motorcycle crash in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — One person is dead after a motorcycle crash early Sunday morning, according to authorities.

Officers with the North Charleston Police Department responded around 2:15 a.m. to the Interstate 526 West off-ramp and Interstate 26 West on-ramp, where a crash had been reported, said department spokesperson Harvey Jacobs.

The motorcyclist was found approximately 50 feet below the ramp and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle was discovered on the on-ramp.

The North Charleston Police Traffic Unit and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office are investigating the crash. The cause remains unknown, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
