OHIO — A 35-year-old Amherst man has died after a motorcycle crash Saturday evening in Vermilion, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 7:53 p.m. on March 21 on U.S. Route 6 near Sunnyside Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado was stopped at a traffic light on eastbound U.S. 6 at Sunnyside Road when it was struck from behind by a 2025 Yamaha YZF-R7 motorcycle. Investigators said the motorcyclist failed to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.
The motorcycle operator, identified as Corey Yarmock, 35, of Amherst, was transported from the scene with life-threatening injuries. Authorities said he later died as a result of those injuries.
The driver of the Silverado was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was not injured.
