One person dead following motorcycle crash in Ohio

OHIO — One person is dead after a motorcycle crash late Sunday night on Interstate 270 near Obetz, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the crash around 11 p.m. on I-270 West in the southeast area of Columbus. Authorities said a black 2023 Kawasaki Ninja 400 was traveling westbound alongside a white 2024 Yamaha YZF-R3.

Investigators said the rider of the Kawasaki came off the motorcycle for reasons that are still unknown. The rider of the Yamaha then laid the motorcycle down nearby.

Officers from the Obetz Police Department and medics from Hamilton Township also responded to the scene. The rider of the Kawasaki was pronounced dead at about 11:20 p.m., authorities said.

The rider of the Yamaha was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
