OHIO — A 72-year-old motorcyclist from Iowa was killed Monday evening after crashing into the back of a semi along Interstate 70.
The crash happened around 5:50 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70, according to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said a Freightliner semitrailer was stopped in traffic due to an earlier crash in Indiana when the motorcycle struck the rear of the truck.
The motorcyclist, identified as Rodney Nordbrook of Waterloo, Iowa, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.
The westbound lanes of I-70 were closed for about two hours while authorities investigated. The Preble County Sheriff’s Office and the Preble County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the crash.
Northwest Fire and EMS and the Ohio Department of Transportation also responded to the scene.
