OHIO — A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Fairfield Township was killed in a crash Wednesday night in Warren County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the Lebanon post said the crash occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. on North Waynesville Road, just north of Hollinsworth Road in Turtlecreek Township.
The motorcyclist, identified as Mathew Schmitz, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the patrol’s preliminary investigation, Schmitz was traveling southwest on North Waynesville Road when he failed to negotiate a curve.
His 2000 Honda CBR-600 motorcycle ran off the road, struck a ditch, and then hit a tree.
Schmitz was the only person on the motorcycle and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, troopers said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
