LOUISIANA — A motorcycle rider died early Thursday morning after crashing on the Westbank, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.
Sheriff Joe Lopinto said deputies were called just before 1:30 a.m. to the intersection of Holmes Boulevard and Athena Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies found an adult rider ejected from the motorcycle. Emergency medical services treated him at the scene, but he later died from his injuries.
Investigators believe the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Holmes Boulevard when the rider struck a roadway barrier, causing him to lose control.
No other vehicles were involved.
Standard toxicology testing will be performed as part of the autopsy. The rider’s name will be released once family members have been notified.
