INDIANA — A 64-year-old Tipton man was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle on Saturday afternoon, according to a press release from the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred around 12:31 p.m. on May 24 at the intersection of State Road 19 and Division Road.
Investigators say William Matthews was riding a gray 2022 Harley-Davidson Low Rider northbound on SR 19 when a blue 2019 Mercedes GLC, driven by Maria Roque, 60, of Chesterton, turned east onto Division Road and collided with the motorcycle.
Matthews was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene. Roque sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
Authorities say drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Tipton Police Department, Cicero Township Volunteer Fire Department, Tipton Fire Department, Tipton County Coroner’s Office, and Murray’s Body Shop.
