INDIANA — A motorcycle crash on Interstate 69 left one person dead and another seriously injured Saturday afternoon, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred near the 355 mile marker and involved a black 2018 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, driven by 57-year-old Michael Wright of Auburn.
Witnesses reported that as Wright was exiting a curve, his head began moving erratically before the motorcycle veered off the road and struck a cable barrier post.
Both Michael Wright and his passenger, 55-year-old Victoria L. Wright, were ejected from the motorcycle. Authorities said neither was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders transported both victims to Parkview Regional Medical Center. Despite lifesaving efforts, Michael Wright died from his injuries. Victoria Wright remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Deputies said the weather was clear and the road surface was dry. While alcohol is not suspected, investigators believe a possible medical event may have contributed to the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
