GEORGIA — A 23-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday morning following a crash on Columbus Road, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred just before 9 a.m. and involved a motorcycle and a Ford minivan. Authorities said the minivan was turning into a local business when it collided with the motorcycle. All lanes of Columbus Road were temporarily closed following the crash.
The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old male, was transported by ambulance to Atrium Health Navicent Hospital in Macon, where he later died in the emergency room, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.
The victim’s name has not yet been released, pending notification of his family.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the crash to call 478-751-7500 and request to speak with a fatality investigator.
