
FLORIDA — A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash Wednesday evening in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. on State Road 400. Investigators reported that a Yamaha motorcycle was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed.
According to authorities, the motorcyclist attempted to pass two tractor-trailers traveling side-by-side by lane-splitting between them. During the maneuver, the rider lost control and fell from the motorcycle.
Troopers said one of the tractor-trailers then struck the rider and continued westbound, leaving the scene.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released.
The tractor-trailer involved in the crash has not yet been identified. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at *FHP (*347).
The crash remains under investigation.
