FLORIDA — A 62-year-old Port Charlotte man was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning in Sarasota County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred along U.S. 41 near Bayshore Drive.
According to investigators, a 68-year-old woman driving a Lincoln Corsair was traveling south in the right lane, while the motorcyclist was also heading south in the left lane.
Authorities said the woman attempted to make a left turn from the right lane, causing the front left of her vehicle to collide with the front right of the motorcycle.
The impact redirected the motorcyclist into the median, where he came to rest.
Sarasota County EMS pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
The Florida Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
