FLORIDA — A woman was killed and a man critically injured in a motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon in Volusia County during Bike Week, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 4 p.m. on High Bridge Road near Walter Boardman Lane in the Ormond Beach area.
Investigators said a 64-year-old man was riding a 2025 Harley-Davidson Heritage motorcycle westbound on High Bridge Road with a 57-year-old woman riding as a passenger. At the same time, a 65-year-old man was driving a 2016 Toyota Tacoma pulling a trailer eastbound on the roadway.
According to investigators, the motorcycle missed a curve and traveled into the path of the pickup truck’s trailer, striking the left side of it. The impact threw both the rider and passenger from the motorcycle.
Authorities said the 57-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 64-year-old rider was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
Troopers later contacted the pickup truck driver, who told investigators he was unaware the motorcycle had collided with the trailer.
The pickup truck and trailer were taken into evidence as the Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
