FLORIDA — A 55-year-old man from Holiday was killed Wednesday afternoon in a motorcycle crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred at approximately 3:16 p.m. at the intersection of Holiday Lake Drive and Solar Drive. Investigators reported the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Holiday Lake Drive, while a sport utility vehicle driven by a 41-year-old woman from Plant City was traveling northbound on Solar Drive.

According to FHP, the motorcycle was passing other traffic at a high rate of speed as it approached the intersection. Troopers said the SUV attempted to make a left turn in front of the motorcycle, and the two vehicles collided.

The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His name has not been released.

The SUV driver suffered minor injuries in the crash and was not hospitalized, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
