ARIZONA — A motorcyclist was killed early Friday morning in a crash in a rural area west of Buckeye, authorities said.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just before 3:30 a.m. to reports of a speeding motorcycle that lost control along Old U.S. 80 near the historic Gillespie Dam Bridge over the Gila River.
When deputies arrived, they found the rider dead on the side of the road.
The victim has not been publicly identified.
Detectives are continuing to investigate what led up to the crash.
