TEXAS — A third-party contractor working at the Samsung Electronics semiconductor plant under construction in Taylor died Wednesday morning, company officials confirmed.
According to Samsung, the contractor was working during construction at the site when the incident occurred. The company did not release details about how the death happened.
Samsung said site and community emergency responders quickly arrived following the incident. The company added that it is cooperating with local authorities and agencies as they investigate.
“Safety is our highest priority, and we are committed to understanding the circumstances surrounding this incident,” Samsung said in a statement. The company said it could not share additional details out of respect for the family and to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
Workers returned to the construction site Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
Samsung extended condolences to the contractor’s family and said it will continue to support employees and the broader workplace community.
The Taylor semiconductor plant is slated to open by the end of 2026 and is expected to create at least 10,000 jobs in the Austin and Taylor areas.
The investigation remains ongoing.
