One person dead following golf cart crash in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed Saturday evening when a golf cart overturned in Charleston County, South Carolina, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash occurred before 7 p.m. in the 2800 block of South Palmer Drive in Charleston. A preliminary investigation determined that the driver was attempting to turn at a high rate of speed, which caused the golf cart to overturn.

Investigators said the driver was ejected from the golf cart and became trapped underneath it. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene by Charleston County EMS.

The name of the driver has not been released. The incident remains under investigation by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.
