SOUTH CAROLINA — A Cherokee County man drowned Sunday evening in a farm pond, authorities reported.
Officials said they were called to Jones Street around 6 p.m. after Leron Lee Williams, 34, fell into the water while in a boat with his 6-year-old son.
Investigators said the incident occurred as they attempted to change seats in the boat.
Williams did not resurface, while his son swam to shore and called for help. The coroner confirmed that Williams was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.
