One person dead following drowning incident in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA — Authorities are investigating after an 88-year-old man drowned Tuesday morning at a local lake.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office responded just after 9 a.m. to Lyman Lake Drive regarding a possible drowning.

Officials confirmed that Grady Leon Johnson of Inman drowned in Lyman Lake between 8:17 a.m. and 8:58 a.m. while fishing.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is investigating the incident.
