OHIO — The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 16-year-old girl drowned at Wood’s Tall Timber Resort on Sunday.
Deputies responded to a report of a possible drowning at Tall Timber Lake, located at the campground in New Philadelphia.
According to investigators, the teen was found after being underwater for several minutes.
She was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital for treatment. However, the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Monday evening that the teen had died.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Madison Danley of Canton.
“Our thoughts go out to the family,” Sheriff Orvis Campbell said in a statement posted to social media.
