One person dead following drowning incident in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities say a man drowned Friday afternoon while trying to recover a boat in the Adams Creek area.

Craven County officials said they were dispatched shortly after noon and later recovered the body of a 59-year-old man from the water.

According to witnesses, the man was attempting to swim from a dock to reach a boat that had drifted away when he went under and did not resurface.

The man’s name has not been released.
