OHIO — A 19-year-old from Avon Lake was killed in a crash on Interstate 71 early Tuesday morning, according to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office and Montgomery police.
The victim, identified as Nicholas James Perry, died after his vehicle crashed into a guardrail at 1:39 a.m., Montgomery Police Sgt. Ken Bertz said.
Perry was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash led to the closure of all southbound lanes of I-71 at Pfeiffer Road until shortly before 5:30 a.m.
During the closure, traffic was diverted off the highway at the Pfeiffer Road exit, where drivers could re-enter and continue south, according to state traffic cameras.
The crash remains under investigation.
