OHIO — One person is dead following a crash involving two tractor-trailers on US-35 near Bidwell on Wednesday morning.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), the crash occurred around 11 a.m. when one tractor-trailer collided with another from behind.
The rear truck, driven by Jason Roaden, 54, of Fairfield, Ohio, veered off the left side of the roadway and became fully engulfed in flames.
Roaden was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other tractor-trailer was not injured.
The crash led to a shutdown of US-35 in the area, with drivers urged to use alternate routes.
The Gallia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident occurred near the rest area close to Bidwell.
As of Wednesday afternoon, a portion of the roadway remains closed while authorities continue their investigation.
