OHIO — One person was killed and two others were injured Sunday morning in a crash involving three semi-trucks on the Ohio Turnpike.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 10:20 a.m. on Interstate 80/90 eastbound near milepost 78 in Harris Township.

Troopers said two tractor-trailers were stopped in traffic because of an earlier crash when a third semi approached and failed to stop. The truck struck one of the stopped semis, pushing it into the other.

The driver of the approaching truck was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The drivers of the other two trucks suffered minor injuries.

The identity of the deceased driver has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Traffic was reduced to one lane for an extended period as crews worked to investigate the crash and clear the roadway.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
