INDIANA — A person died Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash on Indianapolis’ west side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers were called to the 400 block of N. Lynhurst Drive around 8:12 a.m. for a report of a personal injury crash. When they arrived, they found a pickup truck and a Ford Mustang involved in the collision. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they believe the Mustang had been engaged in street racing with another vehicle and was traveling south on Lynhurst Drive when it struck the pickup truck at the intersection. After the impact, the Mustang’s driver reportedly fled on foot.
IMPD is asking to speak with the Mustang’s driver as investigators continue to piece together what led to the fatal crash.
