ALABAMA — A Carrollton man died Thursday night when the boat he was operating collided with another vessel on Lake Wedowee, officials reported.

Dale M. Webb, 74, was operating a 1995 Stratos 17-foot Bass Boat when it collided with a 2024 Veranda Vista 22-foot Tri-toon Boat around 8 p.m. near the confluence of Little River and Big River. Webb was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in Webb’s boat, 73-year-old Berlin A. Owens of Woodland, was injured and airlifted to Wellstar Kennesaw Medical Center in Kennesaw for treatment. The operator of the Veranda Vista boat, 51-year-old Micah B. Cornett of Wedowee, was not injured.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division is investigating the incident.
