OHIO — A 41-year-old Chillicothe man died late Wednesday night after an ATV crash on Simmons Road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 11:23 p.m. on November 20 near the 2000 block of Simmons Road, about a half mile southeast of Ackley Road. A 2017 Honda FourTrax driven by James Hitt was traveling southeast when it overturned, went off the right side of the roadway, and struck a ditch.
Hitt was not wearing a helmet, authorities said. Union Township EMS transported him to Adena Hospital in Chillicothe, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The Ross County Sheriff’s Office and Union Township Fire and EMS assisted at the scene. Simmons Road was closed for approximately two and a half hours during the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
