FLORIDA — A 13-year-old girl was killed in a shooting on Christmas Day, and a 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with her death, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they were called to a home in the 2200 block of Okada Court after receiving reports of a person who had been shot. When they arrived, they found 13-year-old Emony Nicole Jackson suffering from a gunshot wound.
Jackson was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Investigators said a 15-year-old approached deputies at the scene and admitted he was responsible for the shooting, telling authorities it was accidental. The teen was taken into custody and has been charged with manslaughter.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No additional details were immediately released.
