PENNSYLVANIA — Officials in southeastern Pennsylvania say a fatal accident involving heavy equipment claimed the life of a man in his late 60s Monday afternoon.
According to authorities, the incident was reported around 4:30 p.m. in Lower Southampton Township. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call for a rescue involving a wood chipper.
When first responders arrived, they found the man trapped inside the machine. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Officials described the incident as a rare and tragic woodworking accident.
Police later confirmed that the victim was the father of an officer with the Philadelphia Police Department. No additional details about the circumstances of the accident were immediately released. The incident remains under review.
