WISCONSIN — One person died and another was seriously injured following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in the town of Grant, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred just after 1 a.m. on Evergreen Avenue west of 110th Street.
Initial investigation showed a pickup truck traveling eastbound in a reckless manner lost control, struck an embankment, overturned, and landed on its roof.
Four people were inside the truck. The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Wisconsin Rapids, and the front seat passenger, an 18-year-old man also from Wisconsin Rapids, were partially ejected. The passenger died at the scene.
The driver was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries. The other two passengers were not hurt.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by United Ambulance, Plainfield and Grand Rapids Fire Departments, Grant EMR, Life Link, and the Portage County Medical Examiner.
The Wisconsin State Patrol conducted a technical crash investigation.
