OHIO — One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Union County on Friday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
Troopers responded to the intersection of state Route 347 and Lunda Road around 4:30 p.m. for a reported crash.
According to OSHP, 55-year-old Michael Shroat, of Ostrander, was driving a Honda HR-V eastbound on Route 347 when a southbound 2010 Mazda CX-7 failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the Honda’s driver-side door.
The impact caused the Honda to veer off the road and strike a tree, while the Mazda came to a stop off the east edge of Lunda Road.
Shroat was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda was transported to Union County Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
The crash remains under investigation.
