
SOUTH CAROLINA — One person was killed and two others were injured early Friday when a car veered off the road and hit a tree, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. on U.S. 521 near Northfield Drive. A 2015 Kia sedan traveling south went off the left side of the roadway and slammed into a tree.
Three people were inside the vehicle: the driver, a front-seat passenger and a back-seat passenger. The back passenger died at the scene. The driver and front passenger were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the person who died. The crash remains under investigation.
