OHIO — A man died early Sunday morning after Cleveland Fire crews pulled him from a submerged car at the East 9th Street Pier.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 2:43 a.m. after reports of a vehicle about 100 feet offshore, with its rear taillights still visible. Two divers entered the water from the pier and swam to the car.
Using forcible entry tools, the divers gained access to the vehicle and pulled a man out. Cleveland Fire’s Marine 21 crew began CPR and assisted in bringing him to shore.
Cleveland EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.
A second dive was conducted to check for additional victims, but none were found, Cleveland Fire reported. The incident remains under investigation.
