
TEXAS — A driver was killed and a passenger injured in an early morning crash in Henderson County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities said the crash occurred just after 2 a.m. Thursday on FM 317 west of FM 1803.
Investigators reported that a Chevrolet pickup driven by 20-year-old Daniel Rivero of Athens was traveling westbound when it approached a left-hand curve at an unsafe speed. The vehicle then left the roadway and struck a tree.
Rivero was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
A passenger, identified as 19-year-old Jayden Miranda of Murchison, was transported to a hospital in Athens with injuries. The extent of those injuries has not been released.
Authorities said the crash remains under investigation.
