OHIO — A 27-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash late Friday night on Blackbrook Road, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 10:40 p.m. to the 500 block of Blackbrook Road, where they found a red Chevrolet pickup truck with heavy passenger-side damage against a tree.
The driver was unresponsive and trapped inside.
Fire crews from Grand River, Painesville Township, and Painesville worked to free the driver and set up a landing zone for a medical helicopter.
However, despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation by the Lake County Accident Reconstruction Team found that the truck had been traveling east on Blackbrook Road when it failed to navigate a turn, went off the road, hit an embankment, and rolled onto its side before striking the tree.
The sheriff’s office said the man was wearing a seat belt, but alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
