FLORIDA — A 25-year-old woman was killed Monday night after her vehicle ran off the road and into a retention pond near Lake Hayes, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened along State Road 434 near Lake Hayes Road. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the pond at the northeast corner of the intersection.
When emergency units arrived, they confirmed the vehicle was submerged. The woman was pulled from the car and taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
