One person dead after vehicle collides with school bus in Michigan

MICHIGAN — A 25-year-old Fremont woman died Monday evening after her vehicle collided with a White Cloud Public Schools bus in Newaygo County, authorities said.

The crash occurred at 6:19 p.m. at the intersection of E. 8th Street and S. Oak Avenue in Everett Township.

According to the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was driving westbound on E. 8th Street and failed to stop at a stop sign. A school bus traveling north on S. Oak Avenue struck her vehicle as it entered the intersection.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The 46-year-old bus driver was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. No passengers were on the bus or in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation. Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Michigan State Police, the Department of Natural Resources, local fire departments, EMS, and the Newaygo County Road Commission.
