KENTUCKY — One person was killed and another injured Thursday evening after a work truck crashed into a ravine in Boone County.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened just after 7 p.m. along Lawrenceburg Ferry Road.
Deputies said Road Safety Systems LLC, a company contracted to install guardrails in the area, was operating a freightliner truck when the crash occurred.
Investigators said a worker, identified as Robert Kinsella, 42, of Hopewell Junction, New York, was operating the truck from its rear control panel when, for unknown reasons, it backed over an embankment and overturned, pinning him. Kinsella was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the accident, the freightliner also struck a second worker, who was flown to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The individual remains in stable condition.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
