One person dead after train strikes truck in Tennessee

TENNESSEE — One person is dead following a crash involving a train and a dump truck late Monday morning in Humphreys County.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Scepter Road and Sawmill Lane, just off Highway 70 in Waverly, according to the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the crash resulted in the dump truck leaking oil and diesel fuel onto the roadway.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, and the road remains closed. It is currently unclear when it will reopen to traffic.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
