ALABAMA — One person is dead following a train and car collision that occurred Thursday morning in downtown Auburn.
According to the Auburn Police Department, the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on the railroad tracks near Gay Street.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and the train has since been cleared from the tracks.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
As of Thursday morning, Gay Street remains closed, but Donahue Drive, Ross Street, and College Street have reopened to traffic.
Auburn Police continue to investigate the incident.
