GEORGIA — One person has died following a high-speed chase early Sunday morning, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Just before 2 a.m., a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle traveling over 100 mph on Highway 204.
The driver failed to yield, prompting a pursuit. The vehicle initially traveled west on Highway 204, exited at King George Boulevard, then re-entered the highway heading east.
Troopers attempted a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle. The first attempt failed, but a second successful maneuver caused the vehicle to strike the median wall and overturn. During the crash, the driver was ejected from the vehicle, landing in the westbound lanes of Highway 204.
Troopers located the driver and began rendering aid, but the individual died at the scene. The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation.
