FLORIDA — One person has died after two elderly pedestrians were struck by a pickup truck Friday afternoon in Orlando, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened near the intersection of Goldenrod Road and Quail Pond Street and involved a RAM 1500 pickup truck, troopers said.
Investigators said the two pedestrians, an 80-year-old woman and an 84-year-old man, were in a crosswalk when they were hit by the truck.
Both victims were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Authorities said the 80-year-old woman later died from her injuries, while the 84-year-old man suffered serious injuries.
The 58-year-old driver of the truck remained at the scene and was not taken to the hospital.
Florida Highway Patrol said the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Goldenrod Road began reopening around 3:20 p.m. Friday.
